Scott Brown - scott@scottbrowndesign.com
Greetings CSRG members,

I joined CSRG in 2001 and currently race “The Boom Boom Special”, MGA MkII in Gp1 and the Huffaker MGB GT in Gp2.

My involvement with the CSRG Board began in 2004 when I volunteered to design and produce the first Charity Challenge campaign.  Other projects included, social media, materials for the David Love Vintage Races materials since it’s inception, Tech Sticker, Helmet Sticker, etc... My past duties also included assisting in reviewing production car submissions and the Log Book administrator.

Previous time serving on the CSRG Board was from 2012 to 2022 and as required by our non-profit term limits, I took a year off from serving. Back on the Board in 2024.

If re-elected, my goals in collaboration with the board will be...

• Continue to develop promotional/branding materials for all of the CSRG events

• Emphasize driver safety and hold accountable those with poor on and off track behavior and to ensure the Board is consistent in their decisions with incidents

• Assist the Board in updating what cars are eligible to run at our events to bring in younger drivers

• Improved Thunderhill Raceway participation (I’m open to ideas)

• Reach out to membership to join us for Board meetings and to share their ideas. CSRG is a membership driven group and your opinion matters

I ask you for your vote and look forward to seeing you at the track soon. Thank you!

Best - Scott (Scooter) Brown

John Buddenbaum - buddfab@yahoo.com

I’ve served two 2 year terms on the board of directors for CSRG and putting my hat in the ring for another term. I feel we have a great group on the board now and as a racing club are doing quite well when a lot of clubs are struggling for entries. I always have to say that I’m a bit old school having started vintage racing in 1983 but willing to adjust to the newer cars and trends of vintage racing. I would appreciate your vote, thanks so much. John Buddenbaum

Ed Lauber - ed@autokeep.com
I’ve been racing with CSRG for the past 19 years. I’ve been involved with the board for the past four and I’ve enjoyed giving back and helping grow CSRG into the future. I’ve served as vice president and for last year as President.  I feel that along with the board, we’ve been able to make some changes and improvements that have benefited our members. I would include with these, annual techs, shops being able to tech their own customer vehicles as well as our Pole Position check in at registration.  All these things have been done in order to enhance the on track experience and give you the best quality racing that we can. I would like to continue as a board member and as President for another term so that I can help guide CSRG into the future. Please know that I respect our history but also realize that we need to evolve as a club in order to continue.  CSRG is fortunate to have a wonderful team that currently serves on the board and we have seen both financial growth and participant interest grow over the past couple years. I kindly ask for your vote and support.  Thank you.

I would like your vote!

I have been racing with CSRG since 1983. Mostly in small bore specials and production cars. Although I spent a couple seasons in Formula Junior and Big bore Specials. I have raced with almost every organization across the US and a number in Europe.  It is time to give back.

I believe the board should represent the will of the members and not simply those honored to be on the board. I would advocate that most if not all decisions be submitted to the members at large to understand their point of view. It is our club and thus we should have a vote in what is happening.

In my almost 40 years with the club I have seen many changes, we have lost all the old specials ie-H-Mods, D-Sports Racers, G-Mods, etc We no longer see the great cars of the past- I remember more than one race with David Love in his Ferrari and I in the Aardvark.  These days are long behind us and it is time to look forward and understand what cars people are willing to race with us in the future.

Thank you for the privilege of serving on the Board of Directors and as your Treasurer for the past four years, and in the “dual” roles of Vice President/Treasurer for the past two years.  For me, the gratification of being able to help our club thrive by working with my Board colleagues to put on truly great and fun events makes it more than worth the considerable effort involved, and I am asking your vote to continue for the next two years.

Thanks to the solid fiscal policies of prior boards, our financial assets were very strong when I began my first term four years ago, but rising track and event costs overall, combined with falling car counts, caused us to lose money in 2022 and 2023.  We almost broke even in ’24, and in ’25 we are thankfully enjoying a solid profit of over $60k.  Further, and with the help of the asset management group of our bank, I recommended we move our treasury/”savings account” fund into higher-yield yet still very safe funds, and am happy to report that what was ~$202k in that account in 2022 is now at ~$260k.  We have both preserved what was earned and left to us by the prior boards, and we have grown it substantially.

Regarding the bottom-line income statement losses in 2022-24, my recommendation at the time to the rest of the Board to “right the ship” was that rather than raising entry fees, we should instead focus our energies on increasing car counts with both our established members, and by inviting certain, select “special” run groups.  This idea was nothing new, as we have had special groups like Masters GP, Historic Trans Am, Historic NASCAR, etc., in the past.  But, that was all in the past and for whatever reasons, none of those groups have been on our radar lately, hence I felt we needed to renew those recruitment efforts.  So, beginning in 2023, we eagerly took the opportunity to bring in several different groups who had approached us, groups that would (a) complement CSRG’s long-standing traditions, while (b) open our eyes to somewhat newer cars that shared our appreciation of period-correctness combined with high driving standards.  PCA/Golden Gate Region’s Spec 911’s at the second Laps for Laguna event was our first such “experiment” and was well-received by all, then Troy Ermish’s 2.5 Challenge group, then Dave Stone’s Historic B & C Sedan group, the IROC Porsche guys, and this year we enjoyed Club Wheelhouse’s Carrera Cup group, all with great success.  We have also placed great emphasis on helping Crossflow Cup in any way we can to ensure they thrive and grow, a win-win for them and CSRG.

We have heard virtually zero complaints about any of the above, so the plan is to continue with this strategy to help ensure high car counts WITHOUT compromising members’ track time, and for the 3rd year in a row, WITHOUT RAISING ENTRY FEES!

Last point:  My philosophy for our beloved club’s ongoing success is to (a) continue to create a product/experience that ALL of our members enjoy and want to participate in, and (b) deliver events that are the envy of the club-level historic racing scene, and that typically non-CSRG folks want to put on their calendar.  If we continue to do these simple but not easy things, we will continue to thrive and grow!

Thanks for your vote, DZ
