CANDIDATE STATEMENTS:

Scott Brown - scott@scottbrowndesign.com

Greetings CSRG members,

I joined CSRG in 2001 and currently race MGBs in Groups 2 and 3.

My involvement with the CSRG Board began in 2004 when I volunteered to design the first Charity Challenge campaign.  Since then I’ve severed on the board for the past 8 years and have continued to voluntarily design/produce CSRGs advertising, David Love Races materials since inception and the Charity Challenge projects for the past 10 years.  I’m also involved in the production car submission process and the Log Book administrator.

If re-elected, my goals while working with the board will be;

- Emphasize driver safety and hold accountable those with poor on track behavior

- Increase and mentoring younger membership at our events

- Improved Thunderhill Raceway participation

- Continue to develop promotional materials for CSRG events

 I ask you for your vote. Thank you.

 Best - Scott Brown

To all CSRG Members;

I'm told I have to write a little something about myself -and why anyone should consider me to be elected to the CSRG board of directors.

I'm a twenty-year member of CSRG and race in three different groups - Production, Open Wheel/Formula B as well as with the F1/F2/Formula Atlantic group. You have probably seen me in my White Martini-Brabham at one point or another through the years. I think at this point I have a pretty good idea of the dynamics of what make these groups run well, and where there might be some areas for improvement.

I am the President/CEO as well as Design Director of my own 36 year old Industrial Design and Mechanical Engineering firm.  We're product design consultants that work for companies on five continents doing the product design for computer, consumer, medical, automotive and aviation companies. Our clients include such luminaries as Apple, HP, ATT, IBM, Cisco, as well as a passel of others. Some you might know- others maybe not. All of our clients, however, are on the cutting edge of technology.

So I guess it's important to clarify why I want to do this. I want to provide what good advice and guidance to the club that I can to improve our races, our social events as well as the way other people- be they other clubs, racers, press, or spectators- view our club. I want to keep our club vital, growing and fun. I can offer enthusiasm and experience in dealing with conflict (dealing with difficult personalities is one of the hazards of being a consultant) as well as complex large program management from both a managerial as well as financial standpoint. I'd like to see more'visiting' groups at some of our races as well as keeping our existing events fresh and interesting. It would be great to see the club get back to Laguna Seca again and possibly one additional event mid-summer-if that would work from a financial and planning standpoint.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Cheers;

Jonathan Burke

Locke De Bretteville - lockedeb@comcast.net

It’s been a pleasure to serve on the CSRG Board for the last few years. I think progress has been made in a lot of areas, including attracting younger drivers, developing new car classes, streamlining our event protocols

in light of COVID-19 & reducing the incident rate while still holding events that emphasize fun & camaraderie. Grids have remained relatively strong this year & I think 2021 could be very strong, provided significant progress is made against the pandemic.

 For the future, we need to develop a CSRG Driver’s School, as was tentatively planned for January 2021, though it was temporarily put on hold until COVID-19 is resolved.

 I would like to think I played a part in the above areas & in the overall health of CSRG. If you feel likewise, I would kindly ask for your vote.

 Thank you - Locke

I have been obsessed with Vintage Datsuns for over 25 years. I am the owner / operator of Z Car Garage, Inc in San Jose. We are a full-service performance shop for 1970 to present Datsun / Nissan / Infiniti sport cars. When I am not running my small business, I try to make it out to the race track any chance I get. Either to offer my customers track support or attend and drive events

 I love the smell of race fuel in the morning! I currently race full time in the SCCA in two different classes and race vintage with CSRG, SVRA, and HMSA. I currently own a Datsun 510 B sedan, a Vintage Spec Miata, a 1970 Datsun 240Z CP car and a 1972 Datsun 240Z IMSA GTU car.

  If I am elected my goals while working with the board will be the following:

 ·         Make sure everyone has a fun and safe driving experience

·         Increase younger membership at CSRG events

·         Larger car counts at every event including Thunderhill

·         Help promote CSRG membership and bring more spectators once they are allowed

·         Help grow the John Morton Cup and Vintage Spec Miata groups

·         Be a guide for new members to make sure they have the best experience they can while racing with us

  I ask for you for your vote. Thank you!

 Long live the Passion - Rob Fuller

Ed Lamantia - ed@huffakermotorsports.com

Hello CSRG Members,

 My name is Ed Lamantia. I joined CSRG in 2001 and have been a racer for 40 years. I have had the honor of racing  many cars with CSRG, including Formula B’s, Sports Racers, Nascar, MGA’s, MGB’s and Turners.

Serving on the CSRG Board for 8 years, I’ve taken the past few years off, and would like the opportunity to our CSRG membership once again, by assisting with production car submission, as well as helping new members understand our sport of vintage racing.  As Huffaker Engineering’s GM, I have years of experience in the area of production and sports cars.

My goal as a board member is to never lose sight that CSRG is a nonprofit, member-run organization. Our mission is to keep our members safe and coming back for more.

Thank you for your consideration. Shiny side up!

 As a CSRG member, I have enjoyed both the racing and the comradery of our club since joining in 2003, while being a racing member of SCCA and other clubs since 1989.  Since 2017, have been racing my ’69 Merlyn FF in the Crossflow Cup and non-Cup CSRG events, and have now finished restoring and will be racing my Ralt RT31 Formula 3 with Group 7.  Over the years have raced many other open and closed-wheel cars in CSRG and with other groups including HMSA, VSCDA, VARA, SOVREN, PCA, even NASA (!).  I have seen the good, the bad, and the needs-to-improve-a-lot in many clubs and race events, and can bring that experience to help guide our fantastic club, CSRG.

 In the world of motorsports in general, and in vintage racing specifically, CSRG is a very rare, special, and unique club that provides all of us a fantastic venue to enjoy both our cars and our comradery.  We need to keep the club that way, and if elected to the Board, I will do my best to work with the other Board members and ALL members to make sure that happens.  Our unusually high standards for car originality, presentation, and period-correctness are what make our events so great, and so much fun.  Our driving and racing standards are equally high, and those, too, must be respected, maintained, and enforced.  As a Board member, I will be committed to maintaining and improving all of those standards where necessary or possible.

 I also greatly respect the work our past and current BoD’s have done to keep our club financially solid and healthy, especially during this drastic year of 2020 that we have all been experiencing.  Their work has been truly amazing, and as a new Board member, I will do all possible to ensure that fiscal responsibility continues.

 Thanks very much, will appreciate your vote!
