Northern California’s Classic Sports Racing Group is over halfway to its goal of $2m in donations and will hold its 19th Annual Charity Challenge at Sonoma Raceway on the weekend of September 30-October 2, 2022. The event will include all the usual CSRG race groups, with Vintage and Historic race cars dating from the 1930s to the 1990s, running in nine race groups, including our feature group for the MG Marque, in particular the 60th anniversary of the MGB.

There is no sound limit for this weekend. All CSRG-compliant cars (see Section III B, page 4, and Appendix A of the General Rules and Safety Regulations at <http://csrgracing.org/rulescsrg.html> for compliance requirements) are welcome, as are all drivers with current VMC member organization Medical Cards.

As of the posting for this event, spectators will be allowed.  However, at the time of the event, CSRG will follow current COVID restrictions imposed by Sonoma Raceway and local government. Likewise, the usual Saturday night dinner will depend upon the protocols in place at the time.

For more information, please contact Geoff Pitts, Race Director, at race.director@csrgweb.org  (530) 559.2554  or Petey Thornton, Administration and Chief Registrar, at registrar@csrgweb.org, (415) 256.9762.  Also, keep checking https://www.csrgracing.org/schedule.html for developing news on special events and features and, Monday before the event, the weekend schedule and entry roster by Run Group.

Fees: CSRG requires all drivers be either a Full Racing Member of CSRG, or a Single-event Member.  Our friends from other racing organizations may choose the Single-event Membership for $75, but we encourage you to consider joining CSRG as a Full Racing Member ($150/yr) and enjoy the full benefits of membership throughout the year.  Full Racing Members of CSRG who haven't renewed their membership must renew at csrg.motorsportsreg.com before their race entry is processed.

We continue to update our protocol for all races under the COVID threat & will circulate a plan prior to the event. Here is a partial list of what you can expect:

  • Changes in Registration to minimize or eliminate contact
  • Face masks will be required wear for everyone on race track grounds inside buildings.
  • Limits on crew size, currently driver plus 3 crew.
  • Gloves, alcohol-based hand sanitizers, and masks will be made available in multiple areas.

We all know that the ultimate responsibility falls on every person in the paddock. Simply put, if you are not careful, others may pay for it. If you feel you cannot comply with the precautions laid out by both CSRG & the track, that's your choice, but we would then suggest you not enter the event.

We hope everything comes together & we can hold a safe, fun event.

Thank you,

CSRG Board
